Dear surrogates,

You gave someone a family.

You carried their child. You showed up to every appointment, managed every side effect, answered every well-meaning question from people who couldn't quite understand why you'd do it.

You changed someone's life in the most profound way a person can.

And then you watched strangers debate whether you should've been allowed to. :(

Surrogates have never had a seat at the table. The agencies spoke for you. The lawyers drafted your terms. When the industry built "support," they built it with their own revenue in mind.

And somehow your voice got lost in the noise.

That's over now.

That's what we're here to change.

The National Surrogate Alliance exists because surrogates deserve an independent non-profit organization dedicated solely to their voices, their experiences, and their future.

The National Surrogate Alliance started the way most necessary things do — informally, out of shared frustration. A handful of surrogates who'd lived it firsthand decided the industry needed a voice that wasn't selling anything. So they built one: no agency ties, no clinic partnerships, backed by a trusted nonprofit, and run by the people who actually know what this work takes.

The people who know surrogacy best are the only ones who can make sure it survives.

We are built by surrogates. No agency affiliation, no recruiting, no strings attached. Just passionate grassroots efforts by surrogates who believe in what we do.

Built on 3 core mission pillars

Community

Bringing surrogates together to find connection, support, and strength together.

Advocacy

Showing up in the rooms where surrogacy is being debated so surrogates aren't spoken for.

Telling Real Surrogate Stories

Amplifying authentic surrogate voices so the world understands surrogacy through the voices of those who've actually lived it.

Kayde Mason
Kayde Mason
Founder & Executive Lead
Kayde is a two-time gestational surrogate and five-time egg donor who has spent years speaking up for surrogates on social media and in the press. Again and again, she watched decisions about surrogacy get made without the people who actually carry the pregnancies. She founded the National Surrogate Alliance to turn scattered surrogate voices into an organized force for real change.
Charlotte Ramberg
Charlotte Ramberg, LPC
Founding Member
Charlotte is a three-time surrogate and a licensed professional counselor certified in perinatal mental health. One of her most meaningful journeys was carrying for intended parents who had received a family-building grant, an experience that showed her what surrogacy can look like when it's done with care. She joined NSA to help make that kind of experience the standard for every surrogate, with emotional wellbeing treated as seriously as physical health.
Kiely Shimabukuro
Kiely Shimabukuro
Founding Member
Kiely is a four-time surrogate who has brought seven children into the world: her own two sons and five more for the families she carried for, including a set of twins. She founded the nationwide Send a Friend program, now an NSA program. She also hosts RESOLVE's first-ever support group exclusively for surrogates. Through her books and her TikTok, she makes sure surrogates hear the truth from someone who has lived it.
Portia Zwicker
Portia Zwicker
Founding Member
Portia is a two-time gestational surrogate from New York. She carried first for her cousin and then for a gay couple under New York's new surrogacy law. Those journeys showed her that her commitment to surrogacy reached far beyond pregnancy. Today she works through policy, industry collaboration, and community to raise the standard of care, so surrogates, intended parents, and professionals all have the protections they need for an ethical journey.
Mariah Duck
Mariah Duck
Founding Member
Mariah is a two-time surrogate and social worker who works professionally on the agency side of surrogacy. She has never been shy about speaking up for surrogates in the community, and her social work background grounds her belief that surrogates deserve support for the whole person, especially their mental health through pregnancy and postpartum. At NSA, she is working to make sure surrogates are heard, supported, and never left to navigate the hard parts alone.
